Kateriana Fenech - Soprano

Vocal Tuition

Kate L Fenech BMus (Hons) PPRNCM,  started her teaching career at the Clonter Opera Company in Cheshire, bringing opera to primary school children with county-wide workshops. Having been mentored and coached to a very high standard by some of Europe's finest singers and repetiteurs, Kate is in a position to share her vocal expertise and insight with both adults and children.

In 2003, Kate was invited to teach a singing workshop for Jayne A Coleman Academy of Dance in Crowthorne and has been teaching and coaching there as a singing teacher ever since. Kate teaches privately at St Swithun's Junior and Senior School in Winchester and Claires Court Schools - The College (boys and girls) in Maidenhead.

As a former choral scholar, Kate is well-trained in the style and delivery of a quality choral sound having sung througout the British Isles and Europe; this background has enabled her to conduct and coach choirs. Pupils at JACAD have had the opportunity to sing Kate's vocal arrangements all the way to the Final of the All England Dance Competition, Song and Dance section. In 2005, Kate was invited to become the conductor of Claires Court Schools Senior Girls Choir. Kate's strong ties to Malta have led to a series of workshops with the choir of St Paul Choral Society, an SATB choir with over 40 members.

Kate's recipe for successful singing in any style is that it should be enjoyed, practised and accurately interpreted. As a professional performer, Kate enjoys singing an array of genres and understands that many pupils enjoy singing classical and pop songs in equal measure. A solid vocal technique underpins all of Kate's teaching, paying particular attention to similarities between each singing style.  Kate has built up a reputation for high standards with her pupils, creating a culture of students who strive for the best they can possibly achieve with their singing whether it be for concert performances, examinations, auditions or most importantly for the pupil themselves.

Pupils are prepared for examinations, for both the ABRSM and Trinity Guildhall and are taught performance techniques through advanced coaching. The current results average of a Kate L Fenech pupil is Merit 78.5%, using over one hundred results since 2004. In 2008, Kate became a full member of the Incorporated Society of Musicians.

Successful pupils have gone on to study at The Guildhall School of Music and Drama, Guildford School of Acting, Laine Theatre Arts, D&B School of Performing Arts and Tiffany Theatre College. Current pupils include professional West End Show singers, Cabaret singers and Recitalists.
